That’s how he winds up in Tucson, Arizona, just in time to witness a drive by shooting in which beautiful, innocent, eighteen year-old Celeste Martinez, gets gunned down and dies, holding Lacklan’s hand, staring into his eyes - in Cora’s Golden Café parking lot, a hundred and fifty yards from the Santa Cruz Tucson PD Station.
In a town drowning in the black tide of Mexican drugs trafficking, the gangs make the law, and enforce it with guns. In the Fairgrounds district of Tucson, those gangs are the Iluminados and the Santos del Diablo, and the cops know better than to get in their way.

9 mm Justice.

"I expect better writing than this novel was. The central character is usually much too intelligent to become this involved in a localized event. I usually rate this author high however this one seems like a "phoned in" story."

- Another great read by Banner. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Lacklan Walker in Tucson, Arizona. He's just been drifting since taking down Omega. He's standing on a corner admiring a girl in a flat bed truck. Just being a guy looking at a pretty woman. The light changes, she winks at him and leaves. Lachlan smiles and heads down the side walk. Just strolling when he spots a group of young people outside Cora's Golden Café. They are about fifty or sixty yards away. There were four guys in the group and they were Latino. None of them looked much older than 25 and all looked aggressive.
They were talking with two girls. One was wearing jeans and a T-shirt. She seemed mad and was waving her hands a lot. The other girl was wearing a blue dress. She seemed to be trying to reason with the boys and had her hand on the other girls arm.
Walker started across the crosswalk headed their way, about then one of the boys pushed the girl in jeans and Lacklan started to run. That's when he heard music coming from a car. Both girls were backing away from the boys toward a white pick-up. Walker started to sprint toward them. Walker shouted but they couldn't hear him. He knew something bad was about to happen and he would do his best to stop it.
The music was coming from a customized Lincoln Continental and it headed for the group. Walker was screaming for them to "Get down" and the girl in the jeans looked at him with a frown. None of them were smart enough to hit the ground as those in the car started shooting. The four boys were killed and the girl in the jeans was shot in the stomach. The other girl in the blue dress disappeared.
Lacklan stopped by the girl and knelt by her side. He reached for his cell phone and called 9-11. The girls hand lifted and Lacklan took it in his. He identified himself and she told him her name was Celeste and it was nice to meet him. Then she died with her hand still in Lacklans. Of course Walker will find out the who, what and why as his short time with Celeste meant he would find her killers.
So begins another great read by Banner.
This one has Walker, Luz, Detective Shannon of the Tucson PD, Jesus, Pedro and Pablo Santos brothers and cousins who run the Santos del Diablo gang, the four dead boys who were part of the Iluminados gang, a turf war, Lux Santos who is Jesus's sister, a Walker who decides justice needs to be served and a PD that doesn't seem to care, a Walker who uses his skills to make sure that happens, a Walker who is one hell of an actor, a call to Kenny in Westport, a Kenny who arrives and brings toys for Lacklan, Joachin Dorado Beltran, his mother who is a real monster, a scheme by Walker, a Lux who will play a big part, a Walker who gets her out and headed for Westport and Lacklan Walker doing what he does best, kill, right some wrongs, head for Westport, survive and stay alive.
Five Stars and then some. Great read. - Lacklan never loses a fight, this story is different, however he simply put never loses. He needs to be made a little more believable, as even when he is totally tied up in a chair, he can talk his way out of whatever he is faced with. I enjoy the books, but it is always the same car, weapons, cigarettes etc. He always knows a guy, who knows a guy who can help him out no matter what the issues are. No matter to me as I keep reading his books and will continue to do so.
- 9MM Justice is the best Omega novel yet - without Omega. Omega was mentioned only as a reference to history gone by.
Blake Banner continues his great storytelling in a fast paced way that is tough to put down until the finish has arrived.
I know Omega isn't quite finished and will probably raise its ugly head again, as it probably should.
But, this one is riveting. - I’ve been a huge fan of Lee Childs Jack Reacher books and, happily, found Blake Banner whose Lacklan Walker books are on the same level. Can’t wait for the next book! If you like Jack Reacher, you won’t be disappointed with Lacklan Walker!
- I expect better writing than this novel was. The central character is usually much too intelligent to become this involved in a localized event. I usually rate this author high however this one seems like a "phoned in" story.
- I have so enjoyed this entire series. Yes, they can be read as a stand alone, but having begun with the first book, I have been anxious to read everyone. These books are well thought out, fast paced, and have some twists.
- I couldn't put it down. Page Turner ,best I've Read in a long time.
Quick witted and great protagonist. I will be reading more of this author's work
Time well spent. - Yeah, it’s a formula, but it’s an entertaining one...and this variation is different enough to keep you well engaged. Lachlan Walker lives...
